About

"Tissuefoot™ came to life because of an old, crumpled, and mostly empty box of tissue on Don’s fridge. Each time Twila would get a tissue, the whole box would come with it, falling to the floor. Tired of this happening she said, “Can’t you weigh this thing down with rocks or something?”

I went to bed that night and woke up the following day with an idea in my head for Tissuefoot™”. I drew the design, brought it to Red Deer Polytechnic's (RDP) engineering department, and had them print a 3D-print prototype for me.

After having the prototype from RDP we needed to test the new Tissuefoot concept by getting it out there for others to try. This involved placing four rubber feet on rectangular pieces of puck board to provide the grip and weight needed to hold the tissue box in place.

We then mailed fifty of these samples out to family, friends, and willing participants across Canada to further test the idea's viability and provide us with their feedback. The results came back and they loved it! They loved how the little "foot" provided an anchor and stability that prevented their tissue box from sliding/ flopping around, and the simple removal that no longer required two hands to manage.

After receiving the positive response, we searched out an injection mold company, and decided on one, in nearby Airdrie, Alberta. After introducing our tissue box anchor to them and feeling confident with their professional operation, we decided to develop the mold with them.

It took Twila several months of testing, some tweaking, a few scares, and a little hair-pulling before the final mold was made. Don and Twila were present to see the first unit make its way off the production line - a surreal and very proud moment to be sure.

During a sibling bonding session, Twila and her sisters jokingly said, "have an issue with your tissue? Put your foot down!" and it has stuck to this day.

Just like that, Tissuefoot™ came to life!

We hope that our invention of Tissuefoot will eliminate one of life's little annoyances for you!

Don Halvorson and Twila Hartwell proudly partnered with local Alberta talent to bring their idea into reality. They plan to expand into offices and schools and bring Tissuefoot to consumers at trade shows and conventions.
